Check operating carrier at container terminals
The final step in the secure and reliable release and collection of containers via the Secure Chain is the automatic verification of the operating carrier at the terminal gate. This allows terminals to be certain that the correct driver is always granted access.

Simple process
The operating carrier is verified by comparing the unique EAN number in the digital pre-notification submitted by the inland operator via Portbase with the number on the visiting driver’s CargoCard. Only if the EAN numbers in the pre-notification and on the CargoCard match will the barrier open. EAN numbers are issued by Secure Logistics.
Participating terminals
The following terminals currently carry out automatic verification of the operating carrier at the terminal gate:
- APM Terminals Maasvlakte II
- Hutchison Ports Delta II
