Automatically part of your pre-notification
As a road, rail or barge operator, you can very easily make use of the Secure Chain via the Portbase service Hinterland Container Notification. You already use this service to pre-notify your visits and containers at the terminals. When submitting your pre-notification, the terminal automatically sees that the container in question is part of the Secure Chain. A PIN code is no longer required for collection. Your principal will notify you in advance when their containers will start being handled via the Secure Chain.
How it works
The authorisation from your principal to collect a container at a terminal will automatically appear in the Portbase service Hinterland Container Notification (HCN). This takes place via a provisional pre-notification to the terminal. All you need to do is finalise this pre-notification and submit it. As an inland operator, you will no longer be issued a PIN code in the Secure Chain. HCN also allows you to transfer the right to collect a container to another road, rail or barge operator. This party will next arrange the pre-notification and collect the container.

Encourage your customers
Do you have principals who have not yet switched, or have only partially switched, to the Secure Chain for the secure release of containers? Ask them to actively register as participants with the shipping line/ship agent. This checklist will help them join quickly.

The final step in the secure release and collection of containers via the Secure Chain is the automatic verification of the operating carrier at the terminal gate.
