Shipping line/ship agent
Secure and reliable releases start with you
In the Secure Chain, you digitally send the release for an import container to your customer (the so-called release-to-party), usually the shipper or the forwarder/logistics service provider. You use Portbase’s Port Community System for this. The customer no longer receives a PIN code from you. All other data exchange remains unchanged. You continue to inform your customer in the usual manner about demurrage & detention, the return address for empty containers, the return reference, the terms & conditions, etc.

Actions required on your part beforehand
Before you can start using the Secure Chain as a shipping line/ship agent, you must complete the following actions:
Sign up for the Portbase service Secure Chain Release
Using this service, you can send releases to your customers (the so-called release-to-parties) online, either via a system interface or simply through the web.
Inform your customers
Your customers and the subsequent links in their logistics chains also need to prepare for the Secure Chain. In order to receive the release for import containers from you, your customer must subscribe to the Portbase service Cargo Controller Import or Cargo Release Manager. They must also inform the next link in the chain about the new way of working.
Activate the Secure Chain
Once your customer and their subsequent links in the chain are ready to participate in the Secure Chain, they will notify you. To do this, the customer enters their customer code in Cargo Controller Import or Cargo Release Manager. Using this code, which you previously provided, they activate the new way of working. From that moment on, you can begin working with this customer to securely release import containers and arrange for their collection at the terminal.
